    Ah... now i know exactly which model lambretta my royal alloy is ripped off lol! Im a guitarist who cant be buying fenders and gibsons so i seek out the best copies. Sometimes theyre not quite right.. but visually if not performance wise - the royal alloy is bang on😊

    Stylish video. Is that the owner riding? I'd prefer more of a standard sounding exhaust but that's just nitpicking. Lovely looking scooter.

    Brilliant explanation! I learnt a lot. My 88 Evo always wet sumps when I leave it over the Winter. Do you think I might fix that by replacing the two pressure release valves on the pump? Cheers from UK. Liked and subscribed.

    By any chance, did you have excessive scoring on the drive & scavenge gear galleys in the oil pump? If so, please comment as this can typically affect oil pressure if those galleys have deep grooves or scoring in them...

    I've been searching YT for an explanation of the internal oil flow of a shovelhead engine. This is by far the best I've come across. All the others just show oil line routing and sometimes component install alignment. No one does the deep dive like you have. Your camera views are excellent. Straight to the point without the outlandish MTV music. Good job.

    I've always liked 1966 -- 1969 "slab side" Shovelhead engines. I really like the fact that you installed cylinder heads (STD?) with 3 bolt exhaust ports. I hope that engine runs good for a long time. Ride safe.

      Me too. It feels like the last of the classic v-twins. I also have a 83 FXR "Cone" Shovel which is a great daily bike. Yes STD heads, though I have not been able to get a hold of STD for some exhaust flanges.....

    • @walterfechter8080
      @walterfechter8080 Год назад

      @@vespam5 - In regard to the tri-bolt exhaust flanges, try contacting a guy named Fabricator Kevin. He makes all kinds of one-off parts for Harley-Davidsons. That 1983 "Cone" Shovelhead is a rarity. Maintain it and don't beat on the bike too much and it'll get you where you need to be for years to come. Ride safe. -- W

    Did you have to drill hole in block to run the s&s oil pump? More pressure from pump your seals will leak . Bike will also run hotter . Stock oil pressure will allow oil to help cool . I have just over 1000 miles on fresh rebuild. Oil is now weeping from rocker boxes, even past gaskets on lifter blocks . Keep posting videos. Would like to see if you have same problem

    Why aren’t you filming the actual installation? It just cuts to the work completed. Awesome build can’t wait for it to be started? Are the JE Pistons 11.5:1? What size are the valves? Do you do the flow metering of the ports in the head?

  • @thetumanshow

    No suggestions on the build because… well you know… but on the filming stuff, I’d suggest more tri-pod stuff than hand holding. It can make us dizzy trying to follow along. Either way, excited to watch this progress…especially as I start to build the twin spark for mine

    If my math is right your 4.750 stroke and 3.437 bore should give you just shy of 90 cu.in. motor. They call it an 89 kit at S/S cycle. With that long stroke it should pull hard above 3000 rpm. Enjoy.

    Terrifying as it may sound.... Oil pressure on that engine can be as low as 4 to 5 psi at temperature and at idle. Large oil pressure loss usually means trouble at crank pin side clearance. Send flywheel assembly back to S&S let them rebuild it right. Very well may cure your issue. Have fun.
